Douve, first figure (solo)

The solo Douve, first figure performed by Tatiana Julien is the first short form of the Douve (trio) project. It features, independently from the trio, in the company’s repertoire.

She stands there, in the midst of all that was. Fragile semaphore of flesh, she staggers in its wake, wobbles and falls. What voids hollow it out, suddenly come to withdraw it from the common laws of gravity? She dances so that the walls rise, so that the memories rise. She holds these secrets, an immobile priestess, she knows the gestures of healing, the winning filters and death and forgetfulness. She oscillates before the abyss, she has become proof, irrefutable, just a corpse, that the Earth is round. She stands there, where all voices are silent. She could have, as in the past, dance the round of skeletons, crack all the old crimson bones, dust off worm-eaten gestures: she does not. She crosses, still a young girl, and her heavy breasts, the fresh forests where the already dead lie, the flames early extinguished, sad souls, forgotten loves. And, to the great peril of her flesh torn from the branches that resist, she does not give in: she stands there. How sweet it is, the fire in her cheeks! What sudden relief, all this air in the flesh! Rather than in the resurrection, she persists in the vision of this enlightened village, on the other side, where the dead exist and remain.
